Windows 8–Bring back the start button!

Microsoft, Microsoft?  When will you learn that common sense should trump “telemetry”?  Would Steve Jobs ever make a decision based on automated metrics instead of real feedback from real people?  People overwhelmingly want a Start Button in Windows 8.  Take a look at some feedback.

A video that makes the point perfectly

The video above is exactly on-point!  I cannot upgrade my dad to Windows 8.  He’ll have no idea what to do with it.  Huge changes in OS fundamentals should be incremental and optional when it comes to what the user interacts with every day.  Sure, the task bar is great for pinning apps to it so you don’t need the Start Button as much, but guess where I go to find the app to pin?  Yep, I start at the Start Button!

Microsoft, do the right thing.  Give us the Start Button back.  You will upset no one by having it remain, and update many, many people by removing it.  Easy call.

That said, he spends way too much time testing cutting-edge gadgets that often come with promises of making things better and faster, but often fail to live up to those promises.  And they usually fail on the cheaper front as well.
